Belarusian Christian Democracy leaders lodge a complaint against decision of the Ministry of Justice

BCD logo smallSaturday 25 October 2008 17:36 BCD leaders appealed to the Supreme Court making a complaint against the Ministry of Justice refusal to register their party. It was the second time the Ministry of Justice refused to register the party for some farfetched reasons.

‘We do it [i.e. appeal to the Supreme Court, ECPYN] because we are convinced that we have rigths given to us by God and by Constitution', says the BCD co-chairman Alaksiej Shein. ‘There is no doubt that the present Constitution (even though it has been created during Lukashenka's presidency) is being ignored, and the authorities do everything possible to deprive us of our freedoms including the right of association. We appeal to court in order to show once more that we have this freedom according to the law. And this is a matter of principle for us. We are fighting for a freedom we have a right for'.
