The Belarusian security services send life threats to the BCD presidential candidate

RymasheuskiMonday 13 December 2010 10:57 The European Christian Political Movement (ECPM) is very concerned about the situation in Belarus. In the upcoming presidential elections, several irregularities are reported. ECPM therefore is calling the authorities for protection of the presidential candidates and for the assurance of fair presidential elections.

The international committee of the Belarussian Christian Democrats (BCD) reports: “On 10 and 11 December 2010 the presidential candidate of the BCD, Vital Rymasheuski, and his family have received several threats, including those related to life of Vital Rymasheuski.

On 11 December Vital Rymasheuski with members of his team was returning to Minsk by car after a meeting with voters in Homel. On the road between Homel and Buda-Kashalyova suddenly an unmarked ZIL car came from the oncoming lane towards Mr. Rymasheuski’s car. The driver of the candidate for president managed to turn his car on the roadside in time, and thus avoided a collision.

On 10 December a wheel of the car, which brought Vital Rymasheuski’s wife and daughter home, was punched near the candidate’s house. The incident happened for the second time already.

Vital Rymasheuski claims: "I regard these cases as provocation by intelligence services on the personal order of the usurper of power in our country. This signal can be regarded as a personal threat to me and my family. I understand that at any moment I might be poisoned, or any other provocation can take place. These actions of the KGB confirm panic and fear that filled the current Belarusian leadership. I want to encourage them to repent and peacefully leave their posts. I want to appeal to the perpetrators of these inhumane orders – I cannot be scared by such methods! "

The campaign headquarters of candidate for president of the BCD, Vital Rymasheuski, is preparing an appeal to the prosecutor's office demanding an investigation of the aforementioned cases, as well as to the human rights, law enforcement bodies of Belarus and to the international organizations for assistance in providing security for Vital Rymasheuski and his family.

It is worth to mention that on 11 December 201 the car driven by the presidential candidate Jaraslau Ramanchuk has got into an accident in Homel region. The accident has occurred this morning on the way from Homel to Rahachou, 40 kilometers away from the latter.

The presidential candidate's representative Leanid Zaika and two more passengers have been in a car with Jaraslau Ramanchuk. The car has been demolished and is impossible to repair.. None of the passengers was seriously injured thanks to the security cushions. A police sergeant is claimed to be guilty in the accident.”
