Aims of CrossroadS - Christian Democratic Political Academy are:

  • to provide theoretical and practical knowledge on Christian democracy and the representing organizations;
  • to reflect on fundamental values and ideology of Christian democracy (as neither socialist collectivism nor liberal individualism recognize a human as relational being);
  • to provide the public roles and careers of young people belonging to parties or organizations sharing Christian democratic social views by means of education and training, information and experience exchange as well as network building
  • to systematize information on new political, social, cultural, economic and civil tendencies in Europe;
  • Ethics: Personal ethic mindset and moral way of politics.
  • To provide political skills: ability to communicate, organizing, debating, presenting and interacting with the media.
  • To be cunning: to rise political cleverness.

CrossroadS - Christian Democratic Political Academy has an academic attitude, providing theoretical information as well as a practical approach in order to develop personality and professionalskills for leadership. The academy will include:

  • Four sessions gathering all participants, mentors, staff and lecturers for several days for an intensified course
  • Three mentoring meetings which are discussions between the mentor and the corresponding participant about the last session content and current issues in politics.
  • Lectures providing information, knowledge, and space for exchange of experiences, views, and effective debates;
  • Workshops which are aimed at sharing  ideas, reflections, the presentation and discussion of participants’ home assignments;
  • Small groups work which enables every participant to reflect on the issues covered within the day/course, to discuss particular issue more intensively;
  • Skills training for personal development and growth as well as character and team building;
  • Short studies on special topic related to the issues in the corresponding countries of the participants will be given as a home assignment after each session. The participants will have to send the studies in a written form till a set deadline and to present their outcomeof the home assignment at the next session.

We will read and study different historical Christian philosophers and leaders, like St. Augustin, Thomas Acquinas, John Calvin, Groen van Prinsterer, Dooyeweerd and others. All Christian political thinkers should be there, protestant, catholic and orthodox. By the end of CrossroadS - Christian Democratic Political Academy participants will have become aware that they are in a long tradition of different thinkers, and they can use the professional knowledge and skills acquired.

Another part of the course is the basic one. We will study European political history, and the relation between religion and politics.

The last part of the course will be practical politics on how politics work how a Christian (future) politician can use its resources debate. how they can make a proposal read a financial report, and also there will be a focus on what the differences are between local, regional, national and European politics? 
At the end of the CrossroadS - Christian Democratic Political Academy participants have to write a final paper.
