Aims of CrossroadS - Christian Democratic Political Academy are:
CrossroadS - Christian Democratic Political Academy has an academic attitude, providing theoretical information as well as a practical approach in order to develop personality and professionalskills for leadership. The academy will include:
We will read and study different historical Christian philosophers and leaders, like St. Augustin, Thomas Acquinas, John Calvin, Groen van Prinsterer, Dooyeweerd and others. All Christian political thinkers should be there, protestant, catholic and orthodox. By the end of CrossroadS - Christian Democratic Political Academy participants will have become aware that they are in a long tradition of different thinkers, and they can use the professional knowledge and skills acquired.
Another part of the course is the basic one. We will study European political history, and the relation between religion and politics.
Participants should be public career-oriented young people between 18-30 of age actively involved in political life of the party or NGOs sharing Christian democratic values from all over Europe. Application can be done untill March 16th, 2012.
The participation fee is € 350,- for people from western Europe and € 250,- for people from Eastern Europe. This includes materials, dinners, hotel, and travelcosts up to a maximum of € 250,- per session.
At the beginning of the Academy a mentor will be associated to each trainee for the whole year of the Academy. The mentor aims at helping the trainee determine their area of interest in Christian minded European politics, providing a better understanding of the professional content of the Academy, and getting in touch with the relevant network for its further political development. The mentoring meeting is a discussion between the mentor and the corresponding trainee about the last session content and the current objectives. Mentors can be experienced politicians or people working in politics for a long time.
